In Memory of Kizzie
Friday will be a year since Kizzie left us. It was a very stressful time for us and for me, this week has been a very sad week. She definitely had a personality all to her own. She thought she was a 'queen' and let everyone know it! (Too bad for Cath since both Sabrina and I think we are queens too!!!).... but to Sabrina and I, Cathy is a queen!!
Kizzie was 14 years old and started to slow down rapidly before July 15, 2004. It was a very sad time of all three of us. Her memory lives on with her pictures on the wall in our living room and a her paw prints that someone at the vets office got and made into a wonderful plaque, which I surprised Cath with in October!
I have a great stories about Kizzie but one that still makes me laugh, even to this day!! Cath and I had been in Duluth for the weekend and both Kizzie and Sabrina were in day care for the weekend. We picked them up around 5pm on Sunday, knowing we would have the evening to spend quality time with them before the work week started. Well, when we got home we had major toilet issues and had to call a plumber in. We spent the next 3.5 to 4 hours with the plumber trying so solve our issue (which mushroomed into a few issues) so we didn't get to spend much quality time with either Kizzie or Sabrina that night.
Come Monday morning, Cath chose to stay home and clean the house. We were in the middle of remodeling our house ourselves and had some paneling in the basement that needed to get moved outside for our bon fire. Cath had been clearing that out for most of the morning and the door was open. Cath knew that Kizzie was safe since she never walked down the deck stairs. Well, apparently, Kizzie (being a queen) was not happy with the lack of attention and decided she had had enough and took off down the street to Rena's (our day care lady) house! (we could just hear her saying... screw this, if you aren't going to spend time with me, I am going back to Rena's house).
When Cath realized that Kizzie was not in the house, she started calling Kizzie's name. Sabrina, who always found Kizzie before we did, kept going to the end of the driveway and back while Cath was looking around the house. Finally, Cath realized that Sabrina was trying to tell her to come with her, went to the end of the driveway and looked down the street and there was Kizzie!!!
Cath called out Kizzie's name and apparently she (Kizzie) turned, looked at Cath and turned the other direction and continued down the street. Cath kept calling her name and Kizzie kept on walkin'!!! All of a sudden a van turned and started down the street towards Kizzie. Cath ran as fast as she could to grab her out of the way and oooo, Cath was mad! Kizzie got a stern talking to that day!
The picture above is Kizzie with my cousins son... Kizzie loved laps!!
We love you Kizzie and miss you!
In loving memory.....
