Allergies

Well my acting debut hasn't been on the air yet but they tell me the story is going to be on the news. I will keep you posted. I received a letter from my state representative who told me that "these new laws can inconvenience some consumers, but our state has a severe meth problem, especially in rural areas. These restrictions are part of the price the public will have to pay to help stop meth production in their communities."

Well, I guess that's that then! I guess I have to pay for the meth production problem in the state. My question is how did it get so bad in the first place?

I am not done with this issue!!!

Move over Demi Moore, Here I come!!!

Today I was interviewed by KSTP Channel 5 for a story about Pseudoephedrine, an ingredient in allergy medicine. On July 1, 2005, all allergy medicine, with Pseudoephedrine in it, went behind the pharmacy counter. Sorry, just the pills and not the gel capsules! This is because of the new 2005 Meth Law!

I have been taking Drixoral since around 1991, twice a day, and now, because meth users make their own meth using allergy medicine, I have to go the pharmacy and buy my over the counter allergy medicine. Here is the kicker... I can only get 48 pills in a one month time period. 48 pills means 24 days and there are 30 days in a month! Here is the other thing ... Drixoral is sold in boxes of 20!!!

In order for me to get enough meds for the whole month, I had to go to my doctor and get a prescription! The pharmacy went so far as to tell me what the prescription had to say. Now I have to go to the pharmacy and wait 15 minutes while they "fill my prescription"! This is so unbelievable.

The thing that gets me so mad is because it seems like no one even thought about the allergy sufferers when they put this law together. Now I am inconvenienced and I feel punished because "they" are unable to control the drug problem in this country. Those of us with allergies didn't go away... this drug was created for us and now we are the ones that suffer.

Do you want to know the other thing that the pharmacy told me??!!! When I went to get my 3 boxes last weekend with my prescription, they told me that with my prescription, I am able to get 36 boxes (for the year). She even went so far as to tell me that I could buy all the boxes on Saturday! This doesn't even make any sense ... I could buy all my boxes for the year and turn around and go sell them to a meth user!!!

I have emailed my local senator and house rep with no response so I emailed Channel 5 (because I watch that channel) and they called me back!! I have the name of the senator who headed this whole thing so I will be emailing her as well.

I will keep you posted so you can watch me on TV!!!

So move over Demi, here I come!!!

What does it mean???

There are times in my life when I wonder "what does it all mean?", "why did this happen?", "what should I do now"???

This year has been a tough one in the area of losing people. This is the first time I have experieinced 'death in the workplace'. I look around and see sad faces, long faces ... I look around there are holes where that person used to be. I know it just takes time but it's hard to watch sometimes.

Today, I am just thoughtful about what it all means? I know I am not ready for it but it still happens. I guess you just have to remember what is important and do the best job you can.
